Hailio exists because the standard ride-hailing model is not built for women. Every safety measure below is a deliberate choice.
Every Hailio driver and courier is a woman. Not "mostly" — exclusively. We verify gender during onboarding using ID documents and a face photo reviewed by our head office team.
Every account on Hailio — rider, driver, courier — goes through a manual review. We don't activate accounts automatically. A real person looks at the application before you can ride or earn.
A panic button is built into every screen of the Hailio app. When you tap it, your live location, trip details, and emergency contacts are sent to our head office and to your trusted contacts. Our team can dispatch help while you are still in the vehicle.
Share your live trip location with up to five trusted contacts at the tap of a button. They see your route, your driver's name and vehicle, and an estimated time of arrival.
Every Hailio trip is logged with full route, timestamps, driver details, and rider details. Trip records are retained for five years and made available to law enforcement on valid legal request.
Long trips automatically prompt a safety check-in. If you don't respond within two minutes, your emergency contacts are notified automatically.
Email support@hailio.co.za or call 010 825 3961 to report a driver, courier, rider, or trip concern. We investigate every report within 24 hours.
